LYON TOURISM INFORMATIONS
Lyon, the second largest city in France, is situated in the Rhône-Alpes region, at the confluence of the Rivers Rhône and Saône. The centre of Lyon lies on the « Presqu’île » (Peninsula) at the junction of the two rivers.
The Lyon region is home of a large range of business sectors and is France's second largest economic region. The city has become an important business centre, attracting large international firms, renowned IT-companies and international institutions such as Interpol.
Lyon, besides being a business metropolis, also offers interesting recreational, cultural and dining opportunities. Whether you are on business travel or on holiday, Lyon has much to offer for a pleasant stay.
Renowned as the gastronomic capital of France and home of internationally famed Grand Chefs, Lyon abounds in delightful restaurants guaranteeing visitors a pleasurable culinary experience. Bordering the Beaujolais wine region, it also offers a perfect starting point for excursions through the vineyards and the Rhone Valley.
Dating back to the Roman times and boasting one of the largest Renaissance quarters in Europe, Lyon reveals a rich history and definitely is worth a visit : a stroll through the Croix Rousse Quarter (the old silk-weavers district), the Old Town (« Vieux Lyon ») and up to the Gallo-Roman amphitheatre of Fourvière will round out your trip to Lyon.
